Certification & Production Process Update

Dear Kickstarter Backers,

Thank you very much for your patience. We know a lot happened in January 2020 but we hope you still had a great start of the year.

We want to give you a brief update on our current process.

Following from the last update, we are still waiting for the certification report for our battery. We were given an initial release period starting from 29th January, and we were preparing our trip to China to begin packing.

As you may already know, the coronavirus has drastically increased its impact on China and neighbouring cities & countries. The Chinese government has announced the lockdown of many major cities, and factories are demanded to remain closed until mid-February.

Meanwhile, many businesses in Hong Kong have decided to postpone their reopening date after Chinese New Year. It means our certification process will have to be delayed once again due to the current public health concerns.

We did not make this decision lightly, and we want to be transparent with all of you. In concern of our team member’s health and the fact the certification process has to be delayed due to the outbreak of coronavirus, we are sad but to announce the shipment has to be delayed until our factory reopens after 9th February, and might vary depending on the certification report release.

We are maintaining close contact with all our partners to ensure things are moving forward as fast as it can. We are aiming to have the first 200 packages shipped by mid-February.

Certification Update

Happy New Year and thank you very much for supporting us.  We would like to update you all with what’s been going on.

Certification Progress

We read all your comments so far and we thought we should give you all a quick recap of the certification process so far, to begin with.

In September, our battery supplier sent us all the batteries that did not align with our original PCB design and we quickly resolved the issue with a redesigned PCB. With all the testing being done in October, we finalized the PCB and applied for UN38.3 & UN83.3 certification to ensure the Ennercell is up to regulation for shipping.

In November, briefly about 6 weeks after we applied for the certification, we still haven’t got any official feedback from the agency in China, while in normal circumstances it takes 4-8 weeks for batteries to be certified. Due to the lack of feedback in China, we applied for the same certification with Intertek in Hong Kong at the end of November.

Now it has been a month since we started working with Intertek. However, it will take a little longer until we can get certified due to the winter holidays. Meanwhile, the Chinese agency we first applied for the certification with is still asking us to wait for their response. It’s good that we’re able to move forward with Intertek.

Once we have the approval, we’re going to pack all your orders and send them out as soon as the end of January. 

Beta Tester Revisited

We have recently contacted our beta testers, who are still using the Ennercell on a daily basis.

They’re using the Ennercell almost every day. Samsung and iPhone users are fully enjoying the wireless charging experience while one of our beta testers who use a Huawei Mate 20 Pro ended up using it with a charging cable. The samples we sent out were optimized for Samsung phone and iPhone, and therefore we expected this situation to come up. Our finalized design for mass production had this problem fixed up and should not have a problem with different phone models.

We’re sorry for the delay. We’re grateful for all the supportive comments we received and we couldn’t thank you more for your understanding. We will continue to work hard on getting the Ennercell delivered as soon as possible.

Shipping Delay

Dear Kickstarter Backers,

Thank you for your patience. We apologize for the delay in a formal update and about the shipping delay of your rewards. We are experiencing some hiccups at the moment and this update will explain our current situation, what has happened, and how we will resolve the problem.

Our current situation

Approval for the UN38.3 & UN83.3 certification is still pending. We cannot start shipping until we get full approval. As we have explained in the comments, we started the application process right after the latest Ennercell was ready. This process normally takes about 30 days, but somehow our application is taking longer than expected. We have also double and triple checked our design and the actual Ennercell to ensure it is up to regulation.

Why is the certification process taking so long?

The short answer is we don’t know for sure. Although, one can speculate that it may be related to the political turmoil happening in Hong Kong, we don’t want to place the blame on the current events. We want to thank all the backers who have messaged and commented about this and we appreciate you very much for caring.

There is a plan to resolve this delay

To resolve this as quickly as possible we will be applying for the same certifications in Hong Kong with a very reliable certification company called Intertek. This process will take about 30 days and that also means there will be another 30 days before we can start shipping your rewards. However, the China applications are still pending and if they are approved before the new application is approved, then we can ship the rewards straight away.

We are very sorry we didn’t realize this solution to apply for the certifications in Hong Kong sooner and just kept waiting for the applications to be approved in China. This was an oversight on our part and we will take responsibility by doing everything we can to fix the problem.

Thanks for sticking around. We have a quick update for you.

Production and Shipment

Everything is on schedule and all the Ennercells are ready to be shipped out NEXT WEEK! It’s been very exciting bringing a new product to life. And we can't thank you enough for making our dream come true. We have also received our first batch of Ennercell from mass production in our Hong Kong office.

More of card payment and address lockdown

We are going to charge your credit card for the add-on items you placed on BackerKit on October 25th, Friday. We will lock down addresses next week just before we start to ship out the Ennercell. If you need to have your address changed, please contact us as soon as possible. No change of address will be allowed after we start shipping out the Ennercell, and our team will not take any responsibility as a result of typo and delay of amendment.

Production Update

It’s time for a schedule update!

Production Progress

Since we last checked in with you, we’ve tested the Ennercell with our re-designed PCB. The results are very optimal and it’s a perfect match with our batteries. We’re preparing the production line for assembly and it will be ready for mass production next week. With mass production starting next week, we’ll be able to show the finalized Ennercell in the next update.

Order Lockdown

We are going to lock down all orders today. All backers will have 48 hours to finalize your additional orders. After order lockdown, you can’t change your orders anymore, though you will be able to change your address until we lock it down after mass production are finished.

Delivery

As mass production is keeping up with our extended schedule, we’re confident with the start of shipment begin in the last week of October.

Again, thanks for being patient with us. We’re very thankful for  all your support and it’s finally not long until the Ennercell reaches your doorsteps!
