Production Update

Thank you for being patient with us and all your kind words and understanding. This update is a quick check in with you and update you on production progress.
Production Progress
The redesigned PCB is ready and we will begin testing right away. This will last about 1 week (we are doing the testing while the factories in China are on Golden Week holiday) and mass production of the new PCB will start on 7th October. This will take about 10 business days, whereafter Ennercell assembly will start!

Only 7% of backers surveys remain unfinished. Please complete your surveys soon as we are locking down orders in a few days. If you have any questions about missing surveys, please don’t hesitate to send us an email or private message.

Production Update

Dear Kickstarter Backers,
We are very sorry to give you some bad news today.
Our new batteries arrived at the factory on Saturday and we found out yesterday that they’re not what we were expecting.
In the picture above, the batteries on the left are the ones from Saturday, while the battery on the right is the sample sent by the supplier, which we’ve been testing with.
Both batteries are of the correct size, yet the connectors are different. The battery we’ve been testing with has wired connectors to the PCB (circled in red), while the new batteries from the main batch are Zinc-Copper plates (circled in blue). Since the PCB was designed for a wired connector, the batteries from the main batch with its wider plates won’t be able to connect to the PCB.
The reason this happened is due to miscommunication between the battery supplier and us. Since the wider surface of the plated connectors enables better connectivity and stability, the supplier thought they were doing us a favor by making all the batteries from the main batch with the new connectors. However, we did not receive any notice beforehand and didn’t find out about this change until yesterday. Now since we have already placed a 50% deposit for these custom made batteries, we have 2 options:
If we return the batteries, both parties would suffer losses from this partnership. And if we want to order the correct batteries that fit our design, it means we will set aside the 10,000 batteries already made, and it will take 1 month to complete the battery production, with 1 week testing and another week to assemble on top of that. We will face 6-7 weeks delays in production process.
Alternatively, we can redesign the PCB. We could redesign the PCB and relocate the IC parts to make space for the metallic plate of the new batteries. It will take approximately 2 weeks to redesign the PCB, 1 week to test, and another week for production and assembly of the Ennercell. So in total we will face 4 weeks of delay, which will be a faster route. This way we only need extra cost to redesign the PCB without extra material costs. We evaluated the pros and cons and we see this as a better option.
We are incredibly sorry for this mistake. We should have been more attentive to details and communicated with our partners. The change of battery design was initiated by our battery supplier, but we shouldn’t blame them for wanting to help us improve the battery performance of the Ennercell.
We are aware that a lot of you are expecting the Ennercell to be your travel companion, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused to you. We regret to deliver this news and are making the best out of the situation. The delivery will be delayed for 1 month for us to resolve the problem. And the new estimated delivery date is set on the week of the 21st of October. Our survey lock down date has also been postponed, all backers will have extra time to complete/ amend the survey if needed.
Again, we sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Survey Lock Down Date Postponed

Survey Close Date & Production Update

Great news! Since sending out the surveys last week, 78% have already been completed. Thanks for being so engaging and supportive all along! As for the remaining 22%... Please submit your surveys as soon as possible. If you haven’t seen the survey in your inbox, please check your spam/junk folder and message us immediately if it’s not found.
Survey Lock Down Date
We are planning to lock orders on 3rd September with a potential extension. We know some of you still need some time to decide on your final order, a final notice will be sent out 24 hours before we lock down all the orders. Though you still have 1 week before we lock all the orders, we recommend everyone to submit the surveys as soon as possible. The later we receive all your orders, the later we can confirm production units and delivery. After locking down orders, you can still adjust your addresses until 22nd September when we lock down addresses too. You’re NOT allowed to change it once it’s locked.
We took an example of a Super Early Bird (2) order to show you what the BackerKit item confirmation page looks like:
Production Update
Production is going as planned. The finalized PCB just arrived and testing is being done to ensure no overheating occurs when charging at maximum power output or after prolonged use. If all tests are positive, then we can mass produce the PCBs. And based on your survey responses, we can mass produce the different colored cases and assembly of your Ennercells can commence.

Backer Survey & Beta Tester Reviews

Thanks for being patient with us. We have a big update for you.
Backer Survey
BackerKit provides a really great and easy system for you guys to use and order add-on items, but it’s a little bit complicated to set up considering the fact that we have a lot of different rewards and pricing. It took us longer than expected to set it up but we ran simulations to preview the surveys and it’s looking awesome and we can’t wait for you to see it.
We just ran a smoke test, meaning 5% of you guys will receive the survey today. This is to make sure the surveys are set up to a level we want to achieve. All the Ennercell will be shipped at the same time so this will not affect your individual shipment. We once again thank you for your patience.
And ALL of you will receive the survey later this week!
You’ll get the chance to choose the color(s) and finish(es) for the Ennercell and request cable(s) in the survey. It’ll also be where you provide your most-updated address.
Beta Tester Reviews
4 out of 5 backers have received their Ennercell and took some time to test out the Ennercell prototype. There’s a slight delay in delivery to the beta tester in Germany. His name on the MailBox was washed away by heavy rain, hence the parcel was then sent back to the local warehouse and waiting to be redelivered. While we’re sorting that out, let’s move on to the Backer Reviews we received so far:
Javier’s review, Beta Tester from the United States
The Ennercell appears very sleek, compact and elegant. It’s the perfect size for people who are always on the go and like to carry it in their pockets/ purses. The gloss finishing is very elegant. The only concern is how long would it last looking nice and scratch-free. The UV coating stretch goal would be a great solution for that. Love the concept of shake mechanism but it needs to be more sensitive. The charging side is designed to be round so the smartphone could slip off easily, so the nano-suction strip will be of great help in there. The great part of the Ennercell is that it can charge 2 devices rapidly at the same time since I carry 2 smartphones with me. Overall, the Ennercell meet the expectation, with some minor tweaks it can be perfected.
The first impression of the Ennercell is that it’s simple and good, not too big and easy to carry. The surface is beautiful but it’s vulnerable to scratches and fingerprints, though this is where the UV coating will be helpful. The colored surface is preferred. The shake mechanism can be worked on further, especially the power on movement. The display light to indicate standby mode and when connected to power can be more clear. The speed of wireless charging is great. The pros of the Ennercell is that it can reduce the amount we need to pack in our luggage and the inconvenience of connecting with cables. I can see the future of wireless tech after wireless earbuds is the era of wireless charging batteries.

The Ennercell is lightweight and small, so it fits everywhere, and not having to carry a cord is wonderful. The gloss finish is instantly noticeable but the fingerprint is shown easily, so I prefer the matte finish option. With a Note 8, I took some time to align the phone and the Ennercell, so a carrying pouch/ nano suction strips would come to use. I would often toss the charging phone and power bank into a purse and carry on with my day, so the shake mechanism is an extra step. I think I will get more accustomed to it as time passes. The Ennercell is sleek and great looking that you can even use it while using a Note 8 and keep it pretty decently concealed, while my other power bank looks awkward to haul around with. Ennercell is a great addition to the market for a fast-paced world that is constantly being drained.
The Ennercell is very clean and simple at first glance. It’s the perfect size for travelling light so I don’t need to carry any larger power banks. It’s one of the smallest wireless chargers I own.
The material and shake mechanism is something the team can improve on. The surface is a little slippery and it would potentially move the device out of its charging position, maybe changing the design to more a box-shape case will solve this, or the Nano Suction Strips will help align Ennercell with the device. The shake mechanism is a great idea, but the standby-time could be extended. The Ennercell tends to have a temperature rise while charging. The idea of an air vent can be introduced to improve ventilation, but this could affect the water resistance.
Concluding the reviews, we can see our beta testers have 2 common concerns over the Ennercell: The gloss finish and the shake mechanism. We paid extra attention to these details in our factory visits. The new Ennercell is designed with UV coating to be scratch-resistant, and backers have the option to choose matte finishing. We have also reprogrammed the Ennercell to extend standby time, and improved the movement patterns.
